Bogmalo Beach

Happy Baby At Bogmalo Beach |
Bogmalo Beach is one of the smallest beaches in Goa. It is situated about 3km from
Dabolim airport and around 7km from the town of Vasco de Gama. It is also one
of the most easily accessible, benefitting from the wide range of public transport
services serving the nearby area.
The beach
itself is around 2km in length and is one of the most popular beaches in Goa
due to its natural beauty.
Whilst the beach is generally busy, it is by no
means overcrowded, with its 2km of perfect golden sand and palm trees providing
visitors with more than enough personal space.
If you are looking to avoid the
crowds then its best to head to the north section which has seen less
commercial development and consequently attracts fewer tourists.

This area
is still home to many of the local fishermen, and life in the north of the beach continues at an extremely sedate rate compared to the busier southside
of Bogmalo.
One major and very noticeable difference between Bogmalo beach and
almost every other beach in Goa is the absence of beach shacks. Bogmalo is home
only to permanent structures which house a wide variety of restaurants and bars
catering to the tastes of both the local population and foreign visitors.
Bogmalo Beach offers tourists a lot of the same attractions to be found elsewhere in
Goa. For example, there is an abundance of water sports providers in addition
to regular dolphin watching trips offered by both tour operators and local
fishermen.

Underwater Life |
Bogmalo does, however, differ in that it provides a great
opportunity for both snorkelling and diving. Both Grand Island and Sao Jorge
Island have located just a short distance from the shoreline and are extremely
popular amongst visitors wishing to explore the underwater wildlife and
landscape.
The local village is also a popular attraction for visitors with
many markets and stalls offering everything from local food dishes to trinkets
and other souvenirs to remind you of your trip to Bogmalo.
As of 2012,
there is only one resort on Bogmalo beach, the Bogmalo Beach Resort; a 5-star the complex which is becoming increasingly popular with tourists from every
continent seeking luxury accommodation at one of Goa’s premier beaches.

It is,
however, still possible to find locally run guesthouses set back from the beach
if your budget is tight or if you are looking to experience local life in
Bogmalo.
The local population will often be more than happy to guide you to
suitable accommodation in this case. As with
Anjuna beach, Bogmalo has arguably struck the ideal balance between modern
development and retention of local culture.
It offers visitors the chance to
relax and experience the natural beauty on offer, whilst also providing access
to a number of amenities that Western visitors have come to expect.
