Majorda Beach, Goa
Majorda Beach, Goa
Majorda Beach, Goa
The starting
point of the main stretch of Southern Beaches of Goa, location of the most
exclusive beach resort hotels in Goa and India tourism.
Located in
Salcete, Majorda is one of the smaller developed beaches of Goa, albeit the
whole area possesses a lot of character, with small fishing villages scattered
around palm groves.
This South Goa beach area is the site of three spacious
deluxe Goa hotel resorts, quite popular with those on a Goa holiday package
tour. To its north are two other small beaches; Arossim, which is its deserted
northern end, and Utorda, ten minutes walk further north.
The resorts, along
with the lack of any typically cheap Goa accommodation make the area relatively
exclusive. For more action, you could hop onto one of the most loved beaches of
Goa, Colva, 5 km south.
The villages
in the area are relatively prosperous, partly because many families have men
working in the Gulf, and many traditional mansions of wealthy families stand
out.
The
Kenilworth Beach Resort offers a water sports centre managed by professionals
which are open to non-residents too.
Apart from
the excellent restaurants at the resorts, there're a few clusters of beach
shacks close to the resorts offering a good choice from the cuisine of Goa,
India and Europe. Betalbatim has a few good restaurants and beach bars.
Interestingly designed as a pirate ship, Treasures is a popular casino cum
disco at Majorda Beach Resort Goa. It's also the only disco in Goa or India
from where you can send an Email.

Betul Beach, Goa |
If you do not have access to a vehicle, then you will need to use a variety of means to get to the beach. One popular way for tourists to gain access is to travel to the town of Mobor and then to cross the River Sal on the Assolna Ferry, before finally walking a short distance to the beach.
Alternatively, tourists have also been known to travel via rail to Margao Station and then continue via bus to the outskirts of Betula for around 25 rupees, before walking the remaining distance to the beach.
Betul beach is one of the most secluded and private beaches in Goa; very few tourists have even heard of it, let alone know how to get there. The beach has therefore successfully retained its natural charm.

Betul Beach, Goa |
Betul differs from other beaches in Goa not only because of its almost secret existence but also because it offers a typically much cooler climate due to its sheltered location and the existence of many fruit and palm trees which cover large areas of the beach.
Betul provides a secluded place to relax and swim in the clear waters surrounded by beautiful natural landscapes. Many visitors prefer to walk to the nearby Mobor Peninsula. The Mobor Peninsula is about 1 km from the beach and offers spectacular views of Betul beach and the surrounding area and is therefore very worth a visit.
In light of the secluded nature of Betul beach, as you would expect, there are very few tourist activities on offer. This gives the beach a very paradise-like feel. There are also very few souvenir stalls / regular markets which again, contrasts with the majority of other beaches in Goa.
The shoreline at Betul tends to be rather active due to the local fishermen who catch a wide variety of species in Betuls clear waters, before offering them in the form of cooked dishes to visitors.
It is also often said that the finest mussels Goa has to offer are found in the waters which surround Betul beach, and consequently Betul has gained a reputation for offering exotic fish dishes at its small number of food stalls and restaurants.

Betul Beach, Goa |
If you are considering extending your stay at Betul beyond a single day, then there are a small number of family-run guesthouses which offer tourists the chance to experience the “real Goa”, so to speak. Living amongst the local population instead of in closed tourist resorts makes for a truly memorable experience.
Overall, Betul beach is arguably the most suited beach to those who wish to relax in seclusion and privacy, whilst enjoying the natural beauty and climate Goa has to offer.

to preserve Betalbatim beach, you will not find a vast array of tourist
attractions such as water sports or go-kart tracks as seen on other beaches in
Goa.

pursue; relaxing, fishing or climbing aboard a local fisherman’s boat to
observe the dolphins which are found just a short distance out to sea.

predominantly Indian dishes and cuisine unique to Betalbatim.
Due to the continuing efforts to
preserve Betalbatim by the local population, visitors are often actually drawn
to stay in the locally run hotels and beach huts.
Overall, Betalbatim beach is a beach primarily suited to
those seeking a romantic getaway, or for those wishing to avoid the large
numbers of visitors which are often found on the majority of beaches in Goa.
Betalbatim offers tranquillity, an abundance of wildlife and a family-friendly the atmosphere, with a lifeguard being present during daylight hours for the
majority of the year.

Mobor is
rich in natural beauty and very family-friendly, offering many coves which are
ideal for exploration.
Furthermore, its relative isolation and 10 kilometres of

Around 10

Sunset On Beach |
However, in recent times it has grown exponentially in popularity and now
typically attracts adventurous tourists due to its water sports offerings.
Unlike the
beaches at Miramar and a few other beaches in Goa, Mobor is not subject to any
noticeable undercurrents and therefore its waters provide the ideal conditions
for swimming and other underwater pursuits.
As such, Mobor beach possesses what
is widely thought of as the widest selection of water sports in Goa, with jet
skiing, parasailing and inflatables filling the sea.
There are, however, more
gentle activities on offer, such as deep-sea fishing trips, dolphin watching
excursions and tours offered by local fishermen around the area.

Mobor beach |
Mobor is now
also home to a wide variety of shops, which have appeared in response to the
increasing demands of tourism.
As you might
expect from one of Goa’s most exclusive beaches, luxury resorts have long been
the dominant form of accommodation. Situated on the beachfront, they offer a
wide variety of facilities and sophisticated restaurants.
However, this is not
to say that such hotels are the only accommodation option. In fact, many
locally run guesthouses still thrive if you venture around 1 kilometre inland.
You
can speak to local vendors or fishermen who will often be more than happy to
give you a rough idea of their location.
![]() |
Mobor beach |
Mobor also
offers perhaps the most diverse range of dining options in Goa. The luxury
resorts offer gourmet food encompassing a range of different cuisines, whilst
traditional restaurants and food stalls are also present both along the
beachfront and further inland.

and the opportunity to try out dishes unique to the local area. Mobor beach

and around an hour’s drive from the towns of both Margao and Karwar.
If you
intend to get to the beach via public transport, then Palolem is well served by
both bus and train links from many of the popular tourist towns in Goa.

one of the most unspoilt beaches in Goa; it remains a fishing town to this day
and has largely avoided the tourist developments witnessed in other beaches in
the area.
Perhaps the greatest testament to the beauty of the beach and its
surrounding area is the fact that the Hollywood blockbuster, the Bourne
Supremacy featured Palolem as the opening located in the film. This exposure
has seen the beach rapidly increase in popularity in recent years.
![]() |
Sunrise At Palolem Beach |
The beach
itself is shaped in the form of a crescent and is around 2 miles long with long
rock formations at either end creating a cove-like feel. Palolems offers many

the smaller and largely undiscovered beaches in Goa, you will find few, if any,
water sports companies operating from Palolem beach, aside from a few small
operators offering sea kayaking trips to the surrounding area.
Rather,
activities are largely of a more sedate and docile nature with visitors
favouring the regular dolphin watching trips, yoga classes and excursions to
the headland to capture the magnificent view on offer.

on the stone upon your departure. The main
form of accommodation on Palolem beach is beach huts and there are countless providers
