Varca beach is situated in close proximity to the ever-popular resort town of Benaulim in southern Goa. 

As with most beaches in Goa, Varca is well connected to the towns of Margao and Colva through a network of bus and train routes, so the beach can be accessed relatively easily at all times of the year.

The beach at Varca extends for around 11km and offers soft and fine white sand and crystal clear waters, perfect for relaxing and soaking up the sun. 

Varca Beach is steeped in the natural beauty of a geological nature with many lava rock formations dotted along the shore; a feature which makes Varca beach unique from others in the area.

What makes Varca beach even more special, however, is the mass of traditionally constructed palm-thatched huts still used by the local population, along with the wooden fishing boats found on the water’s edge.

As with almost every beach in Goa, visitors to Varca beach have the opportunity to try out a wide variety of water sports and for those interested in observing the natural wildlife, Dolphin watching trips run regularly from the shore and last for up to a few hours. 

Should the heat become too much and you feel like a shelter for a short period, then a trip to the local town is well worth considering.

There are several churches dating back hundreds of years set just back from the beach, which provide further opportunities to explore more of the local culture.

Varca beach is very much an up and coming resort, attracting more and more tourists each year. Consequently, luxury hotels are springing up on almost a monthly basis to service this demand.

The few beach shacks which were previously the only food outlets on the beach have slowly evolved into more permanent structures, now offering a diverse range of cuisines to be enjoyed in more formal surroundings. 

However, more simplistic food stalls do still remain if you wish to sample the local way of life. Overall, Varca beach offers visitors a great combination of beach relaxation, culture and a diverse range of accommodation options.
